He was “forever” –
Then he said goodbye.
her mind wandered in midnight hues
lucent with her dead love’s embers
awaiting the coming of mourning’s due
as his gentle flares warmly hovered
for awful long she laid there, cowered
for way much longer she hid and cried
then she tried to make a small step forward
and from tiny steps she made a stride
then finally…
her heart crackled with golden rays
fading to orange-ruffled strands
spattering tear drops along the way
bidding adieu to her past romance
now her heartache’s gone to slumber
leaving behind an amber glow,
a subtle goodbye to a pain past over
and to morrow, a warm “hello”
