how vast were the skies
back when we were together
when our heartbeats rhymed
singing next to each other
what so-called romance
have we basked our songs
while lost in dulcet trance
where we thought we so belonged
where love had made our place
there was wonder; so enchanting

the chilling whispers
of snow in winter
as snowflakes fall in strings

for bringing back colors
to my darkest hours
and seasons to my barren soul
